If you were expecting Clark Kent when
someone said to you that you should read New Superman, then you're
going to be disappointed when you read, “Made in China: Part Five”,
by Gene Luen Yang and artist Viktor Bogdanovic. The mentions of
Batman and Wonder Woman in this comic aren't the ones that we know
and love. They are different characters. However, Super-Man and his
father still have the same ideas as Superman. They want to save their
city, they want to save their country. They're both fighting for
truth and justice, even though Super-man and Superman do have their
differences.
It's going to be interesting to see,
how Super-man and his father, are going to save China. It's also
going to be interesting to see how Super-man is going to grow into a
hero (like his father and his mother). I enjoyed learning the story
about how his father and mother met, how she became the first
superhero of China. It was sad to learn though that she was murdered,
due to those superpowers. She wanted to bring justice to China and
protect it, but someone didn't want her to.
The Verdict: This is an interesting
comic. If you're looking for the red, blue, and yellow Superman from
Metropolis, this is not the comic for you. If you're looking for
something that is a bit different, I think you will enjoy this comic.
I have a feeling the next comic is going to be interesting as well,
considering Super-man and his father are going to save China.
