“I am Gotham,” by Tom King and artist David Finch, starts with Alfred putting on the Batman mask. I was glad to see Alfred put on the suit and get in on the action. After watching Gotham, I'm glad to see Alfred in on the action instead of just in the Batcave and helping Bruce through an ear piece. Bruce, however, comes in before Alfred can get hurt or throw any punches. Batman is fighting a man named Gotham and he discovers that depending on who Gotham's fighting, his powers increase. Bruce learns this truth when the Justice League comes in and Gotham is fighting Superman. With powers like that, it seems impossible for someone to defeat Gotham. However, Gotham's sister is the one that comes in and defeats him.
This issue is very action packed and, until the end, you're not sure who is going to win this battle. The issue ends with “Next: Gotham Girl” which it makes the reader interested to read this next installment. Obviously, it's not going to be easy for her, now that her brother is dead and she had to be the one that killed him. How is she going to live with any guilt that she might have? How is she going to live without her brother?
The Verdict: This issue is very action packed and has a handful of DC characters popping up throughout. You would think that you're more interested in Batman's life, but, in the end, you're more interested in Gotham Girl.
